Costa Rica Day 3. MC Hammock Time.

Lazily waking up to birds singing outside our window. I step onto the not quite cool tile floor and open our villa door. The sun sparkles off of the pool just steps from our porch. We stumble down the stone path to the communal kitchen. The last cup of coffee was taken by the guy before us, so Sean started making another pot. While I retrieved our bag of groceries that we bought last night from the next door market. To help offset the cost of meals, we decided that we would only eat one restaurant meal a day and make the rest at the hostel we are staying in. We couldn’t be happier with our choice to stay here. Villas Macondo is centrally located and we can walk to everything in Tamarindo. The beach is just 1/2 block down the hill. I gathered the utensils needed to make a simple breakfast of sausage and eggs, by the time I was done, so was our coffee. We walked back to our porch and took in the peaceful serenity of the lush green plants covered in coral colored hibiscus blooms that surround our home away from home. After leisurely eating our breakfast, I wrote a new blog post, answered some emails and Sean replied to some interview questions for a publication coming up this month featuring his new Irish band “In For A Penny”.

Some might call it work, but when you love what you do, its hard to call it work. We had to wait for our internet connection a few times, but  that just gave us time to take a deep breath and relax. Once everything was uploaded and emailed, we packed a light bag with two towels and a couple cervezas and headed to the beach. The water was a perfectly refreshing. I opted to not bring my phone (camera) so I did not have to be concerned about leaving anything of value unattended while we were in the water. Once we had enough wave jumping, we sat on the beach, soaking up the sun and enjoying each other’s company. I am happy to say that after twenty-five years, we still have stuff to talk about and enjoy being together. I admit there are times that have gone by, when just making conversation was work, but I can also say that the work was worth it and those times do pass when you stick it out and work together.

After lunch we returned to the beach for happy hour. This time we didn’t have to say a word. We just chilled in a hammock together and watched the sunset. I should add, this was after laughing hysterically at ourselves trying to get in the hammock without falling out while a couple guys were next to us effortlessly walking in a slack line and swinging from trees like monkeys.

Soon the sun sank into the ocean and we headed to the market to get fresh avocados to make guacamole for dinner. Later tonight we will probably check out some live music and a little night life, but more than anything we are definitely enjoying relaxing, together.
