Today is Mother’s day. For me it’s a little more like Thanksgiving day. I have so much to be thankful for, my mother who (next to Sean) has been my best friend through all of my adult years. She is one of the only people I will have an extended conversation on the phone with. I can tell her anything and she always has something positive to say. She prays daily for me and my family.

Before I had children, I knew I wanted to have a daughter at some point, so that I could attempt to have a mother daughter relationship as close as what Mom and I share. Now I have three daughters and two sons. I have a unique relationship with each of them, and they only get better as we have grown up together.

Then there is Sean’s mom, Kathy, my mother-in-love. She is a dear sweet lady, who I adore and look up to. When Sean and I were engaged, she kept a book of things I liked so that she could get to know me better.  Many marriages suffer due to in-law problems. I am so thankful for the rich and full relationship we have had without the drama that others have to endure from their spouse’s meddling mothers.

Motherhood for me, has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding jobs I’ve ever had. Everyday brings something new.  Here’s to all you mom’s and surrogate mom’s who extend a mother’s heart to those around you and look up to you. May you have a blessed day!
