Tybee Prom

Wrapped in pink taffeta, tulle, satin and chiffon, two by two they arrived to the American Legion Post 154 for the annual Tybee Prom.

The fundraiser was created and continues each year by the dynamic sister duo, Sandy McCloud and Shirley Sessions. Each year the sold out event draws a crazy Tybee crowd. Dancing the night away to the oldies tunes from ‘The Girlfriends’ live music mixed in with chart topping pop hits emceed by Barri Marshal of Happy Hour DJ. Proceeds from the night benefit the Humane Society of Greater Savannah.

This was our third year shooting portraits for the Tybee Prom. Every year Sean and I give each other that knowing look as we nod our heads to each other and say “yep, we live here”

The Tybee Prom is not your typical Prom. First of all it is for adults only. It provides the opportunity to get gussied up for the a date night of fun and dancing, but the dressing up is Tybee Style. Which can be anything from vintage prom gowns, pieces of tuxedos, or shorts and dress coats.

Raffle tickets are sold through the evening for a 50/50 drawing and to win the coveted tiara. At the end of the night, last year’s queen Anna Lee passed on the title and crowned Kaitlyn Reiter the new Tybee Prom Queen.
