Vacation to Stay-cation

We arrived back to Tybee on Friday afternoon a full week earlier than intended from our vacation. But we decided we’d rather get back to the place we truly love and finish our vacation with a stay-cation.

The night before I had responded to my friend Jan’s Facebook post in regards to buying living room furniture from her. After being gone for almost two weeks, I knew that was the first thing Sean wanted to do…move a full room of furniture across the island, then figure out how to sell or dispose of the two huge sofas from our existing living room… right? Well not so much, but he did it anyway. True love shows itself in a multitude of ways. Thanks Honey.

In the time I was driving home from Florida, I posted my need to borrow a truck for an hour, within minutes Our kind friend, Chris offered not only his truck, but his strong back to help. My son Bryce jumped right into help as well. People pull together here to help each other out in a heartbeat, it never ceases to amaze me.

Two quick trips up and down the island and I was soon beaming with joy over our newfound living room suite. By the next morning I had several takers to acquire our old sofas and furniture, and by noon everything was sent down the road.

The new furniture inspired me to do some spring cleaning. We can actually pretend it’s spring in Georgia in January, because when it’s 65 degrees we can fling open the windows and doors. By Monday afternoon, I had purged more stuff from our closets, cabintes and from stuff stored under our bed. Ava helped me give new life to our kitchen and bathroom by applying a fresh coat of paint and a splash of color.

I also did some much needed deep cleaning, you know the kind when your take appliances out and go where no man has gone before… yuck. But it is done now and feels so good to have had such a productive few days. I’ll post pictures after I’m finished painting and decorating.

I have a few more things to do domestically this week then I’ll be ready to jump back into work after taking three weeks off. Though even during this down time, I am happy to say we’ve still been “working” as we have booked six weddings and five other sessions for 2016 in the past two weeks. It appears that our virtual office is working out for us. We will just have to plan somewhere further south for next January to enjoy some warm sunshine.

One of the best feelings we have ever felt is when we return home to Tybee. Walking into hucapoos on Friday and Sunday night being greeted with hugs and kisses from our friends and family…well it just really is THE best thing ever. Even when I walked into our IGA grocery store, I was welcomed home by the employees there.

Today is my birthday and it just so happens to be Wednesday, which is a favorite day on Tybee for me. Wednesdays are when we have a fun friendly competition of Name That Tune at Hucapoos, then we head to The Sandbar, where Sean hosts open mic. The best birthdays are spent being surrounded by the people you love and I am so happy to be able to do that today!
